Chamadumpa Curry

Chamadumpa curry, a beloved South Indian dish, showcases the rustic charm of colocasia (taro) roots transformed into a delectable culinary experience. Ingredients

1 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 onion sliced
5-8 curry leaves
1/4 tsp methi seeds
3-4 slit green chillies
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
6 chamadumpa
Salt to taste
1 1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 cup water
1 cup tamarind pulp
1 tomato diced
Handful of cilantro
1/2 tsp dhaniya powder
1/4 tsp cumin powder
1 tbsp jaggery

Directions

Heat up a pot and add the oil

Add the cumin and mustard seeds

Add the onion and curry leaves

Add the methi seeds and green chillies and mix

Add the turmeric and ginger garlic paste and mix

Cook for 3 min

Add the chamadumpa

Add salt to taste

Add the chilli powder and mix

Add the water and cook with the lid on for 2 min

Add the tamarind pulp (keep the lid on)

After cooking for 10 min take the lid off and add 1 diced tomato

Stir

Put the lid on and cook for 3 min

Remove the lid and add some cilantro

Put the lid on and cook for 15 min

Now add the dhanya powder

Add the cumin powder

Add the jagery and stir

Garnish with more cilantro
